The Home of John Train

Words from Jon (Archive December 2007)

Happy New Year, Train Army.  We look forward to another year of delivering our message to our faithful followers and perhaps beyond.

The message:
All we are saying is give peace a chance.  And, uh, FUCK BUSH.

We are delighted that Miles of Music, a wonderful on-line distributor for great music, has decided to feature Mesopotamia Blues on their website.
Check it out:  http://store.milesofmusic.com/J/John_Train/50168.html
Please buy the cd from these guys and look at all the other cool music they offer while you're at it.

Ok.  We're back at Fergie's.  Every Friday starting on January 18, 2008. 6-8PM.  Free.  To continue this insanity we need your support.  So come on out.  Tell your friends (and enemies).

Here's my top 5 of the year:
1.  Neil Young -- Ordinary People:  this is the old Neil.  Unforgiving and angry.  Listen to him cackle the line about the "alcoholic" people.  Sinister stuff.

2.  Stoner by John Williams: This book was out of print forever.  Get it while you can.  A truly
bleak tale.  Sort of a prototype for, say, Richard Yates.  Nothing to do with drugs, however.

3.  Elvis Costello opening for Bob Dylan in Hartford:  EC stole the show by playing mostly new material including a great one called "From Sulphur to Sugar Cane" which was apparently co-written with T-Bone Burnett.  Of course, Bob stole it back with a stunning version of "Nettie Moore" (my favorite track on Modern Times)

4.  Raft trip with Butch Hancock on the Rio Grande:  sign up for next year at
www.farflungoutdoorcenter.com  Jodi and I will be there again!

5.   The Grateful Dead:  I was real suspicious of these guys.  But, come on, how can you deny Terrapin Station?  I've crossed the Weir line.
